So here we are, the blog is back.
You know that your life was missing something people!
With a new blogger for this season.
The match results have been readily available this season so we will have another go at this.......
Thanks are due to Dartspy for his sterling efforts in difficult circumstances last term (no results to work with) and I will attempt to live up to the quality provided by your former wordsmith this summer. I may well emerge from the experience looking like George Groves, but like Ashley Cole in a dressing room I will give it my best shot.
Brockley A march on at the top of the league with a fine away win at the Maple Tree by 8-5 and so stay ahead by a solitary point. They face the resurgent Fox's next week in the 'Social' in what looks an interesting game in prospect, but so did England v Honduras!!
Brick A have powered into 2nd place (on alphabetic order) with a 21 point haul in the last 2 weeks. This week they put the Brockley B to the sword with a fine 10 - 3 win. Our friends from the lower reaches of the league face a difficult trip to the Royston next week and will be hoping for a first win of the season at this tricky venue. Just getting there is an achievement in itself !
Brick B (formerly Railway Telegraph, formerly Forest Hill Hotel and formerly young) lost the final unbeaten record in the league as they lost 7 - 6 to the Fox's. Captain Alan Aslett was busier than George Michael's lawyer and he was ably assisted by his teammates in a good game.
Penge Trades bounced back brilliantly from last week's reverse at home, to hand out a 13 - 0 beating to the Catford Cyphers, for whom that Week 1 win against table-toppers Brockley A must seem an age ago. They are sure to be aiming for a change of fortune against a wounded Brick B side next week.
In the 'needle' match at the Napier, the B side secured 5 points 'at home' to their venue-sharing visitors, the high flying Napier A who are currently third to Brick A by dint of the alphabet. There is no truth in the rumour that captain Alan Hazell is considering changing the team name to Aardvark A ! Nap B will be travelling to the rampant Brick A next in an attempt to rein in their point collecting bonanza of late. But as they say in Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan!
Although I very much doubt that there are ANY players in our League with a gambling habit, anyone having an (Alan) Punt on 5 aways this week would have collected. With the top 4 teams all at home next week it would be a brave soul to predict that again!
Keep playing and enjoying the game.
GREAT DARTS!!!!
Darts Pie and a Pint.
