The Brick A side travelled to Brockley to take on the Social A. In a close encounter of the SE4 kind, it eventually turned out to be the Brick A that shaded it by the odd leg. Brock Soc A travel to the Royston next week doubtless with a song in their hearts and a survival kit in their rucksacks.
When Cat Cyphers journeyed to the in-form Maple Tree, they must have feared a beating like our big European loser PM David Cameron (26-2). A defeat has not been so welcomed by the vanquished since Cameroon (no relation apparently) lost so tamely and corruptly to Croatia 4-0 – allegedly. Unlike ‘No mates’ Dave the Cyphers did not enter the contest hoping and expecting to lose and so emerged with a creditable 7 –6 defeat, which keeps things interesting at the bottom.
Talking of interesting bottoms, Cheryl Cole has let Banksy loose to perform some artwork on her backside, or as she was heard to say “Well, he said his name was Banksy!” A much less tacky display was the Penge B’s impressive win by 5 clear legs at Fox’s. Well done again to the Penge boys and let’s hope they arrive home in time for the sunshine this weekend. The Kirkdale side meanwhile, will be hoping for a return to winning ways at the Cyphers next Thursday.
Returning to the bottom, which speaking personally I invariably do, two sides without a win between them clashed at the Napier with the B side losing 8 -5 in a titanic battle lasting longer than Stalingrad. The home side started well, but were worn down by a stamina-filled performance by the Brock Soc B and have a visit from the leaders to look forward to next week. Congrats are due to the Brockley campaigners for collecting their first win of the season in such a war of attrition.
At least there was some good news for England football fans this week, and God knows we needed it, as the pasty-faced, surly, England-hating mummy’s boy Andy Murray got soundly larruped by some Bulgarian no-one had heard of. Ivan Lendl’s laughter could be heard in Dunblane……
Finally, remember Homer Simpson’s sage advice “If at first you don’t succeed, give up!”
Darts Pie and a Pint.
