Penge Trades rumble on as they remain top going into the last week after a 8 - 5 win at a very sociable Brock A side, Captain Mark Lemasurier must avoid being forever known as the Grand Old Duke of York, as he has very assuredly marched his men to the top of the FHDDL hill, but will wish to avoid a decline next week at the Nap B who are fighting for their lives to avoid the wooden spoon this term. Penge Trades, or champions elect as we should perhaps call them, will be confident of polishing off a fine season with a long-awaited title this summer given the tricky looking fixtures that the chasing two have to come on Thursday.
The Brick B beat the Nap B by 10 - 3 and close to within a point of the leaders going into the final week of the season hoping for a fall from grace akin to Alan Pardew's for the Powerful Penge, but must have more than half an eye on the Brick A coming up strongly from the rear like Alex Salmond in a pie shop queue. The Brick B are at home to the Brock Soc A in the last game and these experienced campaigners must secure an unlikely large win to have any chance of the title. The Nap B need a herculean effort to get off the bottom next week against the leaders, but will as ever give a good account of themselves to the last.
Old Etonian, plastic faced 'call me Dave' Cameron had a moment of clarity that only impending defeat at the ballot box can bring, as he described his party as the "Effing Tories" in Glasgow this week. It seems that he has finally caught the mood of the Scottish voters, but too late I fear. Equally clear is that the Nap A's season is falling away after early promise as they lost 10 - 3 at home to the Brick A. A good performance from Harry and his team as they remain a mere 2 points off the top, keeping the top two honest (or as honest as they can be) until the last dart is thrown. The Brick A travel to the Maple to finish off a good season however it turns out.
The Fox's boys beat the Cat Cyphers 9 - 4 and look to have secured the top spot of the second division sides in the combined summer league this time. They have had a good season and must be as pleased with themselves as anyone with Diego Costa in their dream team. The Cat Cyphers have been more of a Fernando Torres this term, but even 'El Nino' has a few good days and the Cyphers, to be fair, have had more than him lately.
The Brock Soc B, just above the Cyphers in the standings, performed with great credit at the Maple Tree to secure 5 points. The Maple Tree is never an easy place to go, particularly by public transport (unless you go to Anerley station) and to keep them down to 8 points was a sterling effort. The Maple have had a solid season and adapted to their new surroundings well, like we all hope Spurs will in Milton Keynes, Ipswich or Harrow Borough and Boris Johnson will in Uxbridge and South Ruislip (shame it is not Land's End). The floppy-haired buffoon was shoe-horned into a safe Tory seat for a tilt at the top job when the next election and potentially the Union is lost, in the most unsurprising result since the classic Audley Harrison/wet paper bag contest.
Enjoy the game, boss the oche and smile whatever the result.
GREAT DARTS!!
